Is there a course or instruction set to help someone learn ninjascript?

Hello rtj4201,

Unfortunately there is not a NinjaScript course offered by NinjaTrader. We offer a live webinar on using the strategy wizard, which can be a nice introduction. The strategy wizard builds NinjaScript conditions and actions in a point and click interface. Next strategy development webinar will be this upcoming Tuesday at 5:30 Eastern time.

Reviewing the reference examples on the forum is a great way to begin learning NinjaScript for common coding situations. Also, if you want to make the investment, certain Certified NinjaScript Consultants (including yours truly) can provide NinjaScript training and a sound code framework to start, not to mention, be a resource for when you get stuck. Best to learn from existing code that is relevant to trading and the NinjaTrader platform than a C# book/course.

What would training consist of?

A pre-canned training course is not offered per se, rather the curriculum is customized to the student's trading interests, past programming experience, and schedule. Generally, we start with an existing code framework and review it thoroughly and then workout what is needed to enable one of several enhancement options based on student interest. Each session is facilitated via gotomeeing and students are given homework assignments to develop and demonstrate their new found knowledge. After several rounds of enhancements, we might branch out into best practices for backtesting, optimization, and walkforward testing, for example. 3) your goals in learning how to develop in NinjaScript for yourself,
4) trading style or approach you have a passion for and would like to enable using NinjaScript, or
5) any sample code you would like to better understand
