    Is it necessary when calling an indicator

    for example MACD to have the 12, 26 and 9 included in the code like

    (MACD(12, 26, 9))

    or like in a strategy

    Add(MACD(12, 26, 9));

    Why is this so? Aren't these the default settings in the created MACD indicator? Would it work if I just had

    Add(MACD());

    Regards

    Kay Wai

    Hi Kay, yes unfortunately you would need to Add() the indicator including any parameters the Intellisense overload would require.

      and what if your indicator does not have parameters like that in MACD? Can you still add the indicator to the strategy? If so, how can you do that?

        Sure you don't have to have parameters, see for example Volume:

        Add(Vol());
