    Precision Problem/Question

    In my indicator I have an the if condition if(Low[0] < target).

    Target has been calculated as follows:

    entryPrice = Open[
    0];
    target = entryPrice - (targetticks * TickSize);

    entryPrice is double
    target is double
    targetticks is integer

    My if condition is returning true even though I believe that Low[0] and target are equal.

    When I print target and Low[0] to the output window they show the same value. Is it possible that there is a precision problem?

    Hi dkrumholz,

    There could be a floating point issue, but likely has to do with using integer type in double calculations.

    You can cast this is a double for your calculation with something like this:
    target = entryPrice - ((double)targetticks * TickSize);

    To investigate potential floating point issue, please see the following:

      Have you tried rounding your target to ticksize?

        Thanks for the suggestions. Converting and rounding all priced based variables to tick based variables should eliminate the problem.
