How to supply documentation with an export file for a custom indicator?

Can I package up documentation in an export file? PDF? .doc?

If so, how do I do it? I put a test .doc file in the Indicators directory, but the exports dialog did not show it.

I know I could supply documentation separately, but the cleanest thing to do seems to be to include it in the package. Just like real installable software would.

We support only NinjaScript files when using File > Utilities > Export NinjaScript. You may be able to edit the archive and add your doc file but would have to use an external program for this and there's no guarantees it will import.

If you want this level of control, you may want to look into your own custom installer.

There's no additional installer within NinjaTrader. Google search "software installer" should provide some alternatives:

Am I correct that if you go that route the NT "Import" function will not work with it?

If so, can the installer trigger the usual import function of compiling everything?

Right - you likely won't be able to use the standard import if the files are packaged by another installer. Hopefully other community members can share their experience with custom installers and provide techniques for emulating Ninja's import process. Our support for distribution is limited to the standard export / import feature.

I was not expecting NT support for another installer, but what I was hoping for was something on what hooks NT provides that another installer might be able to make use of.

Please enter a suggestion that the standard NT process support accompanying documentation.
