    NT7 - Import NinjaScript Errror

I have exported compiled versions of my indicators on 1 PC in 2 seperate packages(exports) and when I go to another PC with a clean install of Ninja 7 I am getting the following error message when I trying to import the 2nd package - the 1st package imports ok

Import NinjaScript Errror - Import failed. The Ninjascript Archive File may contain duplicate method names that already exist on your PC or there is a required file missing on either your PC or in the import archive

The problem is that one of indicators exist already(from the 1st package) and the second import is not overwriting it! - This is the way the client will get the packages too !

    What can I do here?

    Hi mefTrader,

Is this an assembly? If the assembly contains source files that share the name of source files already present on the target machine (this can be other scripts, or even public method or enums) you will need to remove the source files from the target machine first, at "Tools>Edit NinjaScript>Remove"

I cant remove them because the source files are already compiled assemblies - I cant see them to remove them!

        Hi mefTrader,

First, I suggest removing the any old assembly first at "File>Utilities>Remove NinjaScript Assembly"

Then, you may have two source files that are being shared by each of your two assemblies. I suggest exporting these as one assembly instead.

I'm having this same problem. When I try to remove the NinjaScript assembly, I get an error message that says: Remove failed. You have custom NinjaScript files on your PC that have programming errors. These errors must be resolved before removing assembly. Please help.

Please open the any custom script in your NinjaScript editor (for example the ADX indicator) and press F5 to compile all scripts, which errors would then be found in your current files?

I can't find the Ninja Script Editor. It doesn't exist in my Tools. I've imported lots of custom indicators in the past but have never had this problem before. I even did a complete re-install, and only imported the few custom indicators that I use, but am still having this problem.

shali, it sounds like you'll have to use the demo license key to use the editor - @SIM-DRBT-D593-40B1-AE74-C79F-715D-1952.

To change the key, go to Help -> License Key -> input the new key -> restart NinjaTrader.

Be sure to make note of your current key so you don't lose it.

                    Hello dmasau,

                    Thank you for your note.

Please follow the instructions below to see where the errors are coming from after compiling the indicator. This will allow you to debug the indicator/strategy or remove it from your PC. If you are wondering why you receive an error when compiling only one indicator, it is because NinjaTrader always compiles all indicators and strategies - not just one. This is done to give you the highest runtime performance possible.
                    • Open NinjaTrader
                    • From the Control Center select the Tools menu--> select the Edit NinjaScript menu item--> select Indicator
                    • Select any indicator and double click on it (we need only to open and compile one script to see all compile errors for all files).
                    • A new window will appear and you will need to right click in the window and select Compile to compile the indicators.
                    • At the bottom of the window a new section will appear where you can find the error locations.
                    • From there you have the option to comment out offending code sections, remove the complete indicator or debug it to be able to compile again.

If you are unsure as to what the error is indicating, please send me a screenshot of the error with the name and description fields clearly readable.

To send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CRTL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

We have also collected more comprehensive steps for resolving NinjaScript programming errors in this tip on our forums - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ead.php?t=4678
