How can I specify the use of a specific FibonacciRetracements template programmatically?

miker, unfortunately you can't programmatically set which Fib settings template to use.

so which one does it use? always "Default"

Correct, it would use the defaults then.

when i open the properties, it shows "Custom", though it has the "Default" settings....Can these be changed programmatically?

This is expected, since the locked property would be checked for script added drawing tools - however the values / colors / widths applied would be taken from your as 'Default' saved fib settings template.
