    MA cross indicator

I know this is so basic it is emabarrassing to ask, but I can't figure out how to simply plot up or dwn arrows or dots at the close of the bar that define MA crosses. I have tried using a Strategy that plots arrows, but it doesn't seem to work. And never using the Indicator Wizard, it is a bit confusing on how to insert the two MA logic components. I'm sure this has been done a thousand times, but any clues on how to get me started would be helpful.

    Thanks.

    Hello Billr,

You can see this article for help on defining the Moving Average cross overs using the condition builder.

This one can help with setting the Drawing Actions.

Review those links and let us know if you have any further questions.

      Thanks Ryan,
If I understand what you are saying, the method to achieve this is creating a strategy that draws rather than trades. Not an indicator??
I tried this but it doesn't seem to plot the results. I am using NT 7.17.

Also, to get this to plot, doesn't that mean I need to enable the strategy to see it? (my goal was to chart and consider a wide range of MA types and settings as part of an overall effort to refine this component of a strategy.) I guess using a strategy will work, but that means editing the Ninja script each time for a different type of MA correct?

Bill, if you see no drawings, please check Y Axis components you used, many people erroneously leave this as 0 and this is then the value at which this is literally displayed, such just not seen on a chart...correct strategies need to be enabled in NT7 now as they are added to the chart.

For a more advanced custom programming example consider this please -

It would allow choosing the MA needed via an enumeration offered in C#.

Thank you Bertrand, that is quite helpful. Now that you mention it, there is at least one indicator that uses a similar idea by assigning a numeric selector for several MA types.
I will look at the file you referenced. Have a good weekend.
