How do I get the bar numbers to print for this case?

Hi, I'm trying to code an indicator which can count bars. The condition is Close[0] < Close[4] and there must be a minimum of 9 consecutive counts. If there isn't the minimum required counts, those counts are deleted. And the consecutive counts continue until Close[0]>Close[4] occurs. How would I go about achieving that? You can just use a loop to loop through your bars and count how many there was. Then if that count is less than whatever amount you are looking for, don't do anything with it.

Untested code, but it should give you an idea

     if (Close[x] < Close[y])
          count++;

if (count < 9)
     count = 0;

As long as the count is consecutive, it continues counting and reverts to zero if the condition is no longer valid. What I have to do now is to remove those counts that don't make it to a minimum of "9". Can you assist?

Please refer back to the loop I use in my example. The code does not go down to checking count < 9 till after the loop is complete so it will hit 9 if all 9 bars satisfy the condition. If you have doubts on this you can add Print()s inside the loop to see the value of count along each step of the way.

Loops are the most efficient way to accomplish this as opposed to a bunch of if-statements.

Chart a is what I got from using your code. Chart b is what I got from the code I posted earlier. The result I'm trying to get is chart b minus the consecutive counts which number less than 9. So all those with consecutive counts which display less than 9 consecutive counts i.e, numbers 1 to 8 only, I would like to have them removed.

You need to debug it. Print the count value every single step of the way and see where it resets if it does and why it does not reset when it doesn't. Unfortunately we are not able to walk you through every step of the way.

What you should try is printing before the loop, in the loop, after the loop and before the if-statement, in the if-statement, after the if-statement. You want to track the whole way through.

Further note that it does not need to be orderly on the chart. Every single bar is evaluating anew all the previous bars and telling you the number of true bars for your condition in relation to that current bar.
