    Conversion for comparison purposes

    I know this is going to be a "duh" question, but I've wrestled with it for a while now, without any success.

    This does not work:
    if (Close[1] < ATRTrailingStop(4.5, 5))
    {.....}

    It produces error messages pertaining to the comparison of strings and such ("Operator '<' cannot be applied to operands of type 'double' and 'NinjaTrader.Indicator.ATRTrailingStop'"), and while I do understand the general idea, I do not understand how I can modify this to make it work. I was under the impression that both values - Close[1] and ATRTrailingStop(4.5, 5) - are doubles, but obviously that's not the case. The description of "NinjaTrader.Indicator.ATRTrailingStop" as a type has me thoroughly confused.

    Suggestions on how to convert/cast either of these values to allow for comparison?

    Thanks in advance...

    Gary

    hawks67,

    You will need to compare the closing price to an actual double value of that ATR DataSeries.

    if (Close[1] < ATRTrailingStop(4.5, 5)[0])

    The 0 can be whatever bar you want to compare against.
