Custom indicator using other indicators

Hello all!
I'm trying to build a custom indicator that uses some other indicators.

My question is if some of the indicators I use are added to the chart, can I use the settings from the added indicators, instead of the ones in my custom indicator?

For example, let's say I use the HMA indicator. I can set the period in my custom indicator, but if the user adds HMA on the chart, I would like to use the period set by the user when he added the HMA to the chart.
