Determining when something is declining

Hello, I want to write an indicator that will determine if a particular indicator is in decline, say, over the past 5 bars. Is there a "standard" way to do this or do I just check the close of each bar?

Hi, you could use Rising / Falling but this will only be over 1 bar back - http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...6/Falling.html

For bigger lookbacks, I would suggest doing a direct comparison.
