    Smoothed & colored BB bands?

    Hi.

Is there any way in NT to:

    a) apply a smoothing value to upper and lower Bollinger bands
    b) to have them change color if they squeeze closer than an "x"% parameter

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hello,

1- The BB already has smoothing in that is uses a simple moving average. However you could apply an additional smoothing factor if you want. You could build something like this in the Strategy Wizard by using the BollingerBand has the input series for an SMA.

2- Some time ago I built two indicators that may meet your request. One is called BollingerPrecentB and can be found in the file sharing portion of this forum.
The other one is called TripleState and it is attached to this post.

Thanks Ben, I'll check them both out and report back.

Ben, the TripleState is exactly what I was after on the band-coloring side. Thanks.

However, is there any way to refine the narrow threshold range to work in fractions, rather than whole number values? So, 1.2, 1.3, 2.65 etc... I'm finding that whole numbers are too chunky to get the results I was hoping for.

          Hello,

I attached the indicator with the change. I basically changed narrow_threashold from an int to a double in the variables and properties. I have not tested this, but give it a try.

Thanks Ben, but when I try to download the attachment, I'm told I'm not logged in and do not have access to the page... yet I am...
