    Moving directory to another machine

    Hi there,

I installed NT 6.5 on a new machine (Vista64, old one was XP32). I copied my entire user directory for Ninja Trader over and everything appears to work, other than compiling indicators.

When I try to compile indicators it says this:

"Metadata file 'c:\program files\ninjatrader 6.5\bin\NinjaTrader.Core.dll' could not be found"

That makes sense, since NT is installed into c:\program files\NinjaTrader 6.5 (as vista tends to do for x86).

Those DLLs are in there, so it's just the top level directory it's getting wrong. What should I do to remedy this? I don't really want to junction/etc. I just want to fix whatever in NT is looking at the wrong path.

    Thanks!

    gluebunny,

You should NEVER copy the directory. Instead you should use the Backup/Restore utility available. Please use File -> Utilities -> Backup on your old machine and bring that file over to your new machine and use Restore.

      Ahh...interesting.

I've done the copy method for numerous upgrades, as well as at least 2 machine changes and/or clones without a problem. Guess I've been lucky

      I'll try that, thanks
