    Understanding Custom Bar Types

    Hello.

I have some custom period types installed that are using various default values like "custom6, custom7", etc. I'm not sure how that works exactly but my question is this.

If I install another vendor package that also uses custom data types, will the installation attempt to use a period type that is currently unused, or will it overwrite an existing custom data type?

In other words, I have a data type called FTRenkoSupreme and it uses custom7 period type, and I now install anotherGoodBar. Will it overwrite custom7 and destroy FTRenkoSupreme, or will it use another period type?

I've attached a file. That data type, FTRenkoSupreme, is "defined" at custom7.

    Hello rcsingleton,

    Thanks for opening the thread.

Custom Bartypes will not overwrite each other, but if there is a conflict between used slots, one custom bar type may be inaccessible. The bartype should then be modified to use a different slot.

Further discussions on this topic along with an indicator which can identify used bar type slots can be referenced in the thread here: https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...ad.php?t=81673

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
