    Using only Upbars for calaculating the average

    Hello,
    I am trying to build an indicator that returns data ranges on upbars (i.e. close - low). There is no problem here but when I am trying to get the averages of these data the indicator uses also the downbars on their calculates (it takes 0 like value of downbars). I want to use only the upbars on the average calculate.

    protected override void OnBarUpdate()
    {
    if (CurrentBar < AvPeriod)
    return;
    else
    {
    if (BarUp && Close[0] > Open[0])
    {
    OpenClose.Set(Close[0] - Open[0]);
    }

    }

    double sumOC = 0;
    for(int i=0; i<AvPeriod; i++)
    {
    sumOC = sumOC + OpenClose[i];
    }

    OCAv.Set(sumOC/AvPeriod);
    Print(sumOC/AvPeriod);

    Hello doniphon,

    Thank you for your post.

    When using a DataSeries you have a slot for each bar in the series you synced it to. This means on the down bars where you do not assign a value to OpenClose you still have a 0 as the bar slot is still listed.

    You would likely need to use a List in which you only add elements when they occur. For information on Lists please visit the following link: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...v=vs.110).aspx

    Please let me know if you have any questions.
