small interval chart using large interval chart data

    just looking at

    http://ninjatrader.com/support/forum...d.php?p=443194

... Lets say I have a Weekly chart with a 50EMA on it and I wish to know the current value to plot on my 100 tick chart. I do not wish of course to take the usual course of adding at least 50 weeks of data onto my 100 tick chart ...
can I ask what's the best way for small interval charts to reference moving averages etc. on large interval charts?

    Hello,

    Thank you for the question.

The standard way would be to Add() a dataseries in the script using Add(). You would add a week dataseries for a weekly EMA calculation. You would also need to load the amount of days of data required, there is not a way around loading the data unfortunately.

If you need X number of weeks to calculate the 50 EMA, you would need to load the data for it to be calculated, there is no way to reference this data from another chart or statically as the example you linked shows. The like you had provided was simply showing sharing a variable between two scripts but is not the same as loading historical data needed for calculations.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.
