Prevent automated strategies to place order when initial margin req not met

Hi,

I am trying to prevent my automated strategies to place orders when initial margin requirements are not met.

I am using NinjaTrader Brokerage and Continuum.

When I use GetAccountValue(AccountItem.CashValue), it does not take into account the margin that is used by the currently open positions.
Since GetAccountValue(AccountItem.BuyingPower) returns always 0 (not supported), I don't find a way to achieve this.

Does anyone know how this can be solved ?

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, initial margin information is not provided by Continuum connections.

With Continuum, these values are provided (values exclude commissions):

• Cash Value
• Realized PnL

For more information about what information is provided by each connectivity provider, please take a look at this link from the NinjaTrader help guide: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...counts_tab.htm

As this is not provided, the initial margin requirement would need to be calculated manually.
