    Autodetect Chart Period & PeriodType

    In a MultiSeries (but not MultiTimeframe) indicator, how can you automatically conform the additionally series' PeriodType and Period to that of the chart?

    I have tried:

    Code:
    Add("instrumentstring", Bars.BarsType.PeriodType, Bars.Period.Value);
    However, it appears the Bars object cannot be used in the Initialize method.

    I tried setting a variable prior to the Initialize method as in:

    Code:
    private int period = Bars.Period.Value
    and then use

    Code:
    Add("instrumentstring", PeriodType.Minute, period);
    but that didn't work either.

    Is there a way to do this?

    Srgtroy, that's correct dynamic Add()ing via accessing the Bars object could unfortunately not be supported, as you could run into race conditions while loading up. Some users have found success though using the BarsPeriod id and value directly in the Add() call -

    Add("instrumentstring", BarsPeriod.Id, BarsPeriod.Value);

    Best approach would be just making the needed values for the second instrument all available via the user interface as inputs.
