Array of DataSeries objects

I dont know what it is, may be a brain cramp but how do I declare and instantiate an array of DataSeries objects?

I thought I have done this before, but now I cant get it to work ....



for example, would like a collection of DataSeries objects of size NDIM

private DataSeries[] mydata;
mydata = new DataSeries[NDIM];

produces a null exception .... most likely been staring at my screen too long and can;t see the obvious, please help!

May be if it wasn't after midnight I would have caught on to what the error message was telling me ... DUH!
