    SMA of variable

    I need an SMA of a variable but I cant seem to get it to work

    STOC_D_HI_AVG = SMA(STOC_D_HI,20)[0];

    I get "cant convert from double to data series"

    Do i need to be loading this variable into a data series?

    any examples?

    Thanks

    Hello darkspeed,
    Thanks for writing in and I am happy to assist you.

    Yes, you need to assign the value to a data series.

    The overloads for a SMA are as follows:
    SMA(int period)
    SMA(IDataSeries input, int period)

    For example if you are looking to calculate the high value of the Stockastics D, for the last 25 bars then please use the below code:

    Code:
    double stockDMax = MAX(SMA(Stochastics(7,14,3).D, 20), 25)[0];

    Please let me know if I can assist you any further.
