    Understanding The Orders Mechanism

    Hi,

I'm trying to understand how the NT build in Order mechanism is working in the following scenario:
    1. I have a short position in the market, with a stop loss and take profit set for it.
    2. I get a signal to place a Long Limit Order few ticks below the current price(Close[0]).

My question is what happens in such scenario?

    TX in advance!

    Hello Ben,
Thanks for writing in and I am happy to assist you.

If you have an position with a stop and target in place using the Set method, then the ExitLongLimit will be ignored as per the internal order rules.

To submit an Limt order, you have to cancel the Set orders, exit the short position and then put the buy limit order.

Please see the section “Internal Order Handling Rules that reduce Unwanted position” to get more idea from here http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...d_approach.htm
Methods that generate orders to enter a position will be ignored if:
    • A position is open and an order submitted by a set method (SetStopLoss() for example) is active and the order is used to open a position in the opposite direction
Please let me know if I can assist you any further.
