i want to test a directional system that has a starting price, ending price, and opens a trade every X number of ticks/pips. is Strategy Wizard capable of building something like this or would i need to hire a coder?

hi all, i have a super basic question as i am new to backtesting with NT....
i want to test a directional system that has a starting price, ending price, and opens a trade every X number of ticks/pips. is Strategy Wizard capable of building something like this or would i need to hire a coder?Tags: None

Hi pkmurphys,
The strategy wizard unfortunately does not offer this exactly. With the wizard, you can work with multiple sets, and then submit separate orders in each set. Your idea could be achieved by manually specifying the price of each entry, working with the offset field to add/subtract ticks to whatever value you define for the order.
Set 1 could be offset by 1 tick, Set 2 offset by 2 ticks, etc. More information is available here in how to offset an items value section:
You will get more control in coding, but the strategy wizard is a nice start to seeing how orders are formatted.Ryan M.NinjaTrader Customer Service
