'VwapDailyBandType' is a 'type' but is used like a 'variable'

the if statement throws the error, how do you get an enum to work with an if statement?

private VwapDailyBandType bandType = VwapDailyBandType.FirstDayOfMonth;

             if (VwapDailyBandType == VwapDailyBandType.FirstDayOfMonth)
            {
            ClearCalc=false;                
                if (Time[0].Date.Month!= Time[1].Date.Month)
                {
                ClearCalc=true;            
                }

public enum VwapDailyBandType
{
    FirstDayOfMonth,
    FirstMondayofMonth,
}

Try using "bandType" in the if statement instead of "VwapDailyBandType"
