Range Bars from Hist data...

It appears NT6.5 will not generate range bars when using historical data...how then does one update a chart if the platform goes down or for some other reason data is lost when using range bars...?

Range bars from historical data are generated. Their must be some other issue such as no historical data or the range size is too large that not one bar can be built from historical data.

Range bars on NT need tick data for historical

Perhaps some of the confusion is that some other programs approximate a range bar using minute data.

If any one minute bar exceeds the range, they split the bar into several phantom bars.. just like NT does on gap opens.

They also recommend you keep your range size greater than the average 1 min price range.. NT does not have this restriction.
