Log Message Question

I'm getting the following error message in the log:

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

What does this mean?

laocoon, this typically occurs when you try to access something that doesn't exist yet. There is a reference tip that shows how to do null checks, and I believe that is what is happening here. What line of code is causing the error?
