    Alert - no sound-NT7

    Hi,
Problem: two diff. time frame charts with the same indicator that sound alert when condition met, e.g. arrow drawn. Works only for a single chart - shorter term chart in my case. When condition met on longer term chart - no sound. The ResetAlert... does not help. Is there a conflict of some kind? How to fix it please?
    Thank you very much.
    Regards, Art.

    Hi Art,

First step is confirming that the condition is true. For this, the easiest way is with a print statement in the same block. you can then verify through Tools > Output Window.

Check log tab of control center for any error messages.

If you get output then you'll want to check that you can manually play the sound file by clicking on it in Windows.

      Hi Ryan,
Everything is confirmed. Besides, this very simple arrow-alert program tested and works for a long time. But the sound works only if I use this indicator on a single chart. I hoped NT7 would fix this but... It works, but only if using this indicator on a single chart. In case of more then one chart it still works - sound plays (just played) on the shorter term chart only. No sound on longer term chart when arrow drawn on it.
      Thank you.

We are not aware of NT issues in this area. There shouldn't be any interference with indicator conflicting another chart with same indicator. I just tried a simple cross condition and was able to get sound played for two different intervals using the same indicator. More information would be helpful in tracking this down, but likely comes down to debugging your code.

Remove the indicator on the short term chart and focus on the long term chart. Are you able to get sound played?

          Hi,
I removed the indicator from short term chart then add to a longer term chart. It works only if I use the program with a single chart. If I use the program for more then one chart at the same time it usually works (or may not) for one of the charts, usually the first one this indicator was added to.
I'm not asking to debug my code but maybe you can try it on your machine and see if it works for more then one chart at the same time. I'm using Windows 7 home premium 32 bit machine.
          Thank you.

            Hi Art,

I ran it this morning on 3 charts and received alert messages for all charts with the indicator applied.
