Time resolution

I am currently using the IQ DTN datafeed. I am noticing that when I access the Time object for a given transaction, only the hour, minutes, and seconds have non-zero values. The millisecond field is always zero.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your patience here. Yes, time is only accurate to the second. There is no millisecond resolution.

Is that limitation in NinjaTrader or in eqtrader's data vendor? Eqtrader refers to a "millisecond field", and that seems to imply that NT is ready for milliseconds if the data has it.

I'm using TradeStation, but looking at NinjaTrader specifically becaues TS doesn't support time resolution greater than minutes. Seconds are great by comparison -- milliseconds more than adequate for me.

Hello Ninjanewbie,

Not all data providers offer time accurate to the milisecond so for now it is not supported. It is on our list of future enhancements.

Thanks, RyanM. And I didn't mean to imply criticism of the software. Seconds is fine for me, personally, and the software looks great so far. I'm just in the steep part of the learning curve and trying to understand even the simple stuff like tick timestamps.
