Vertical Line w/ Time Input Variables

Hey all,
I'm new to the world of NT programming, and was curious if someone could point me in the right direction. I want to be able to plot vertical lines at certain times of the day, but I have a few questions regarding my approach.
1) What would be the best way to get multiple variables throughout the day to plot vertical lines? (Will NT be able to retrieve these variables through a text file?)
2) If I wanted to plot a vertical line at 10:43, but I am using a 5 minute chart, would there be anyway to round it to the nearest 5?

1. NT 6.5 could not access the values of drawn objects, for NT7 those are exposed and accessible now, NT7 is in public beta now -

2. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a method to round this automatically, you would need to custom code one.
