Could you please tell me what is the significance of the "numbers" in the braces {} and the purpose it serves in a tag?

Kay, best would be to check into docs for the C# String Formatting, paramters in those braces would be used for alignment and general formatting options - http://blog.stevex.net/string-formatting-in-csharp/
