compile error cs0136

can someone explain to me this error? i am trying to use a boolean indicator that i can change as i run through my program but i seem to have this error which i think means that you can't change this variable?

basically i just want to:

at start of new day
{condition 1 = true and set var = false}

if var = false
{do this and set var = true}**

And i seem to get an error in ** saying u can't change it?

Don't worry, i think i know where i went wrong ... i didn't realise

bool var = false

is a declaration and not the same as

var = false
