    Momentum bars?

I'm looking for a way to create momentum bars like the ones in Tradestation. Thanks.

Thanks for the input suedeuno, unfortunately creating bar styles is not supported by us - for coding ideas you can look at the RangeBarsAlt type from our sharing section - http://www.ninjatrader-support2.com/...&id=18&catid=3

I could be wrong sue, but I believe TS's momentum bars are NT's range bars.

        suedeuno,

Is the description in post 1 of this thread what you are looking for?

Thanks for the input guys, I believe miket523 is correct - just keep in mind TS uses points as the input and we use ticks, so Range 4 would equal Momentum Bar 1 for TS charts.

How do I use the alt version posted below?

Not sure what you mean, did you import the zip successfully? If you use the raw cs file, place it in myDocuments\NinjaTrader 6.5\bin\Custom\Type and compile all your studies to use it.

I am also looking for a way to display "momentum bars" like the ones in TradeStation. The TradeStation Momentum Bars ARE NOT the same as range bars; TradeStation has range bars and momentum bars, and they are different.

The zip file fails to import, and the cs file has programming errors.

dlukert, which exact zip did you try to import? Could be it was a file for the legacy 6.5 version that would need udpating to make compatible with NT7.

In terms of a fully developed study / addon I would only be familiar with -

I'm trying to import RangeAltBarsType.zip, which is what you told suedeuno to look at. Then he said "How do I use the alt version posted below?" and you said "Not sure what you mean, did you import the zip successfully? If you use the raw cs file, place it in myDocuments\NinjaTrader 6.5\bin\Custom\Type and compile all your studies to use it.

So I tried importing that zip file and using the cs file. How would I know if it is a legacy version?

Thanks, you can check into the info.xml accompanied with every zip export file generated - this would hold the version info, the script shared was indeed for 6.5 thus would expect unfortunately an import issue into NT7.
