What is the primary difference between NinjaTrader indicators and strategies?

My script needs to do some multi-symbol analysis. It seems multi-symbol multi-timeframe analysis is only natively supported in NT strategy but not NT indicator. So my question is that if not doing any backtesting or trading, what is the major difference between NT strategies and NT indicators?

Indicators do charting. Strategies do trading. Indicators do not currently have multi instrument/time frame yet, but this is planned for NT7.
