why can't I use bars ago data?

I am just trying to learn how to make custom indicators in Ninja trader, But I am stumped as to why I can't use data from past bars.

I just created an indicator using the wizard, with just default settings. It plots a line of the close with the line Plot0.Set(Close[0]);

I then change the line to read Plot0.Set(Close[5]); and I no longer get a line. I thought that would shift it over 5 bars, but it just gives me a blank indicator.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have been trying to figure this out for hours, and am stumped as to why this won't work.
