NT Chart and Data Box hooks for external apps

I'm sure this is not supported, but I thought I would ask if anyone has tips on hooking to the chart or data box from a .NET language. If one could detect the time of the bar a user clicks on, or detect the values in the data box, this could enable the user/programmer with the ability to create "helper" apps to provide additional functionality.

I'm thinking maybe monitoring Windows messages or something similar. The NTGrids such as in the data box are custom, and do not appear to be visible at the cell level through message monitoring.

Any ideas appreciated!
