Trend Channel Click Causes Price Scale Start to Zero

When trying to draw a Trend Channel on the chart from Drawing Tools, the first click of the mouse causes the price scale to expands from 0 to current price and shrinks the chart (i.e. The scale for ES shows from 0 to current price 2155.00). Any way to fix this scale switch or it is a bug?

This happens for drawing trend channels only.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

You may want to try to set your Range to fixed. This will ensure the chart does not try to auto scale and shrink your data series.

To do this, right click on the Y axis and select 'Properties...' At the very top is the option 'Range' set this to 'Fixed'. Click OK.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

      Thanks JustinS,

Trend Channel is the only Draw Tool that behaves like that. Changing the scale to "Fixed" seems to be a Bandaid fix and may affect other charts. Other draw tools seem to work fine in either Auto of Fixed.

Two questions: 1) How Fixed is different from Auto, and 2 What is a generic fix that may not affect other charts or setups.?

      Thanks.

        Hello,

        Thank you for your reply.

We have attempted to replicate the issue but as of yet have been unable to do so.

If possible, please send us a video/screenshot of the issue to [email protected] and reference ticket number 1584559

This will help us to look further into the matter and possible get a bug report rolling as this is obviously not how the platform should act.

          Thanks JustinS,

Whatever you guys did this morning during the remote assist it fixed the Draw Channel issue. However, I did not get a chance to ask what the issue and fix were. Could you please briefly describe the issue and the fix for future reference.

          Many Thanks.

            Hello Aligator,

The issue you were having this morning was that you had a Trend Chanel template saved as the default, which had Auto Scale property checked. This caused the price axis to compact as it was showing the 2nd line being created lower down the page. I unchecked the Auto Scale setting and then saved the template as default.

See understanding drawing object templates in our helpguide:
