custom properties for custom bar type

Is there a way to have custom properties for my custom bar type? If so, please tell me where I can get information on how to do this...

Custom properties are not currently possible with bar types. This has been previously requested as a feature to add, SFT - 1269 "Allow custom BarType / ChartStyle properties", and I will add your vote for this.
