IB Historical Data Issues & Provider

...I'm not sure if this is an NT8 issue or Interactive Brokers issue as I haven't checked this on NT7.

1) Can I provide a backup data provider for historical data (ie. NT servers)? There is no option for this for the IB connection.

2) Loading historical data from IB is painfully SLOW. I don't know if this is their servers or an NT8 issue (need to test on NT7).

3) Many times the "Reload Historical Data" isn't available to be clicked and thus I cannot refresh my charts to fill a gap when the computer was asleep/offline etc.

1) The ability to define preferred data providers has been improved and moved to Tools > Options > Market Data > General > Preferred Connections - historical and real-time. You can define your preferred connection by asset class as well.

2) This is expected. Interactive Brokers has certain restrictions on how data can be requested through their API which NinjaTrader has no direct control over. There are certain things which have been put in place to mitigate this, however, ultimately it cannot be circumvented. There is more detail in a discussion on this thread:

3) Sleep/hibernate can prevent NinjaTrader from successfully reconnecting to all necessary servers. I would recommend either shutting down NinjaTrader before leaving your PC unattended, or disabling the sleep/hibernate settings.
