Running NT8 and NT7

Hi there,

Some of my trading indicators are improved for NT8 and so I'd like to use NT8. Some of my indicators are not yet NT8 compatible so for those I'll need to use NT7.

Q1. If I install NT8 are there any settings in NT7 whatsoever which NT8 will override or change or do the two programs run utterly independently?

Q2. Will I be able to run NT8 whilst I run NT 7?

Q3. I assume if I am connected to my Data Provider, for example Continuum, on NT7 this means that I won't be able to connect to Continuum simultaneously on NT8?

Hello Michelle,

NinjaTrader 8 and NinjaTrader 7 are completely separate. The program files directly folders are separate. The Documents settings folders are separate.
When installing NinjaTrader 8 the first time, you will have the option to do a 1 time import of your settings from NT7 to NT8. After this, the settings will no longer be shared.

NinjaTrader 8 and NinjaTrader 7 can run at the same time. (When running the installer for either version both versions must be closed)

The connection depends on your broker and whether they allow multiple simultaneous connections with your account.
I recommend you check with your broker for further information.
