I customize the chart trader and then save the preset however after shutting down and starting back up the save doesn't stick. I have to do the same process over again.

There is a bug report on this that was already submitted which included that the Action button, Buy button, and Sell button settings don't restore when saved, but this should be fixed by next beta release.
Are those the settings you're experiencing that are not saving?
If not what version of NinjaTrader 8 beta are you running? You can find this by navigate to the Control Center -> Help -> About.... An example would be 8.0.0.11.Riley S.NinjaTrader Customer Service
