It would be handy if the Output windows 1&2 could be docked along side each other (or viewed separately instead of being tabbed). I often use the two for comparison and it doesn't make it easy switching between the tabs.

Are you aware of the Dual View functionality? This sounds like it may be just what you're looking for:
Output - Dual View (Under the 'Understanding the dual tab view' section)
