Instrument Overlay Selector

Hello,

In NT7, keyboard input to an in focus chart was restricted to Alpha, Numeric and Function keys, leaving most other keys available for script based Hotkey use.

In NT 8 the Instrument Overlay Selector does not appear to have any character filtering so it accepts almost every keyboard input which results in just a very small number of keys available for script based Hotkeys.

Is this intended behavior and if so, is there a suggested work around?

Hello rt-trader,

You can trigger a hot key from a script by using a custom event handler method with the PreviewKeyDown.

I have created an example to demonstrate. This example requires that you click the panel that the indicator is in and hold shift and type a letter to trigger. (You could assign special keys to do certain actions, but this generally shows how to capture key presses and trigger an event without the overlay instrument selector appearing)
