Well than, even though only 2 cases is hardly worthy of being called statistically significant, it appears that we have to indict Avast, and tell them to stop interfering with our NT. NT is not malware: it is how we make our living. Dangnabit.

Ummm....that not the end of story. Now make it zero case.

Strangely same behavior shown by my UltraEdit text editor first time after NT8.
Then it become apparent case of intentionally not updating Avast to latest builds , which i usually skip. Updated program version and voila...all that exclusion deads Its running again as usual and ultraedit too.

Check your current avast's virus and program version 151204-3 and 11.1.2245 licensed version.

Last thing that I checked before turning it off. It looked correct, but I asked it to update anyway, and it came back telling me that I was current. I cannot give you the numbers right now as I uninstalled Avast so that I could get to work. I was not prepared to experiment to see how to configure it. Maybe this weekend, if I have some free cycles.
