    Re: Compiler feedback

As my library grows, compiling takes longer and longer. In NT7, after I hit F5, the spinning hourglass tells me that NT7 is working, compiling my code. In NT8, there is absolutely no feedback letting me know that anything is happening.

If I miss the completion sound for any reason, I cannot know if anything at all happened. I need some feedback during compilation. I have refrained from complaining before now because I thought that I would be able to live with the situation. I find out that I cannot do so after all: I want to know if something is going on, not just wait with fingers crossed in silence. Please provide some feedback.

    Thanks.

    I second the motion.

Me too, I know I have wasted a lot of time "retesting" the older code because the compiler didn't finish before I started testing. Maybe change the background color or boarder color until compilation completes.

        Hello,

Thanks for putting this one in Koganam, I too have noticed there is no feeback until you hear the compile sound or see otherwise.

I have put this in as a feature request

I look forward to being of further assistance.

Is it true there is no audible feedback upon compilation failure?

I'm not getting any - only on successful compilation. There was the ding with the annoying message box in NT7.

            Hello,

That is correct, you would only see the orange errors in the NS editor. if you have multiple screens this can be apparent but if you are using 1 screen and the editor is in the background it can be difficult.

This has been added as a feature request SFT-452

I look forward to being of further assistance.

              *BUMP*

We should have a error sound notification by now...

                Hello,

I have added another vote to the feature request, unfortunately with feature requests there is no expectation of the item being implemented or a timeframe I could provide. At this point we can only continue to add votes for anyone that would like these features.

I look forward to being of further assistance.

I would also add that if you are running NT on a remote machine (hosted server, rdp, etc.) and you try to compile, not only do you have no indication of progress, but no indication of completion either. You know if it fails because you get the error list. However, you just have to guess if it's completed successfully with no errors because there is no audio. A simple "Compiled successfully" message in the status bar would be more than adequate and would take 5 minutes to code.
                    My 2 cents.

Yes, this feature would be most useful, particularly as development libraries grow.

Add my vote for this as well

                          this would be quite helpful...
