    B4 - Global Crosshairs

Set 2 different charts to use global crosshairs.. The icon in the NTToolBar will change appropriately on both.. Close NT8 and reopen.. Although both charts are still using the global crosshairs the icons on both charts toolbar revert back to the arrow representing off..

Also slightly noticed right after 12:30 bar close on both, when hovering over the last 5 min bar, the 30 min chart was not showing it's cursor on it's most current developing bar, but the bar before.. After 2 more closing bars of the 5min it did catch up.. Haven't fully confirmed this with various time frames, but since I was reporting the icon issue, thought it was something I'd mention that I noticed.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I was only able to reproduce this once, but could not get it to occur again. However, in the process of trying to reproduce it again, I discovered another issue which may be related. Do you by chance remember if you had recently switched instruments on one or both of your charts any time before this occurred?

hmmm.. I don't remember if I had done that or not.. But now that you mention it, after trying that, I believe I see the additional issue you probably discovered.. If you have two separate chart windows, both with the same instruments, and set the global crosshairs on both.. Then Change one of the charts to a different instrument, the global crosshairs continue to work on both windows even though they are no longer the same instrument..

Looks like 3 separate issues involving the global crosshairs in B4

      1. Icon not reflecting correctly after restart
      2. Last Bar of Chart not neccisarily always lining up
      3. and now should only work across the same instrument..

That's exactly what I found. I will continue to work on these three issues with the team. Thanks again for your help.

Why should the global crosshair work only for the same instrument? I can see that as a valid option, but there are cases where I have different instruments and still expect the global crosshair to work.

huh, that's interesting.. guess I never tried it that way with NT7 and for whatever reason didn't realize that was expected behavior.. my bad.. guess that 3rd issue isn't an issue after all.. Thanks for bringing that to my attention..

I've used it across instruments in nt7 all the time. Works like a champ. Nt8 b3 was completely broken for me. Need to look at b4 here today.

Still doesn't work for me. I'm looking at a 3 minute ^VIX chart and 5 minutes ES 09-15 chart.

My Playback-Market Replay is finished. Nothing happens between the 2 charts.

I've used Cntrl-G and also setting the Crosshair by right clicking on the chart.

I've turned off TABS and turned them back on.

I've used the mouse wheel to scroll and the chart slider.

                This is on win7 x64, NT8 B4.

Maybe global cross hairs only works in Live Market? Or non Win7 machine?

When I leave the window the cross hair disappears a lot of the time.

                  Hi sledge,

As a test, could you update your graphics drivers then test for this again? Please also update to B5: http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect

                    Ok - I did.

I went to NVIDIA and got the latest K3100m quadro driver (went from 348 to 353 whql or something), and I then found the intel utility to update the HD graphics drivers, so that went from 10.x.x.x.x to 15.x.x.x.x.

I did a final test in Beta4, just to see if what effect that would have.

                    3 charts.
                    VIX 3 minute, ES 06-15 chart 1 4 range, ES 06-15 chart 2 5 minute.

Well - During Playback - MR, I can get some charts to do it when PLAY is on.

When I pause Play - they no longer work together. Only the one chart has the crosshairs (and is must faster refresh since it isn't updating the other 3).

One other thing I notice is that during Play 1x speed, if I'm in an ES06-15 chart - and I use the mouse scroll wheel to another day - (with valid candles for VIX (9:30-4:00pm), it doesn't update. It sits on the same day. If I move around in the ES chart on a couple candles - it flashes an update on the VIX chart - but still for the old day - and when I finally mouse move enough candles on the ES 06-15 chart - the correct day will finally show up on the VIX.

I will now install B5 and rerun these exact tests and report back.

Also those issues are in B5.

Hit pause, and everything goes dead again.

With play - there is some compliance - but it takes some mouse movement to get an update across.

I was in VIX, on 6/5/2015 using mouse wheel scroll, and ES was still on 6/8/2015, and the crosshair was updating the time on the axis - but it was on the wrong date.... took a mouse movement in the vix chart to get an update across.

Global crosshair not working correctly with Playback

I'm having issues using the global crosshair with the Playback connection. The first issue is it does not work when the connection is paused (no crosshair is visible on the secondary charts). The second issue is it is extremely slow. There is at least one and a half seconds of pause between moving the crosshair on one chart and seeing the crosshair update on another chart (unlike in NT7).

                            Hello folks,

Thank you all for your feedback!

I was able to reproduce the flaws with global cross hairs. I first opened two ES charts with different intervals, connected to the Playback Connection, enabled cross hairs, and I saw the same with the global cross hairs not moving before clicking play. When I had clicked play, I saw the cross hairs move, but with major lag. When I paused the Playback, the global cross hairs would show only on one chart, while the other did not move.

I believe this is has already been reported and I will update you all with an ID.

Sledge, thank you for taking the time for linking this thread so more testers can see this is already known as a bug.
