    One indicator for all connections

It looks like in NT8 there is only one green light that states the status of open/broken/lost connections. For people running multiple open datafeed connections at the same time I do not find it very helpful to only have one green light for all connections.

I like to be able to view the status of all connections at all times at one glance without having to hover over the indicator with my mouse, as was the case in NT7.

Maybe something that can be improved in a next release.

I too prefer to see an indicator or name for each connection instead of the single green light.

On a related note, if you have multiple connections, how do you know which data feed is being used for charting purposes? In NT7, you can tell based on the order of connection names at the bottom of the control center.

        Hello bksmm,

The connection order will determin what connection is used for data as in NinjaTrader 7

There is an option in NinjaTrader 8 to specify what data provider is used for what data

Please see the link below for further information

Thanks for the reply but I guess my question wasn't clear. In NT8, assuming I have not set any real-time or historical market data preferences, how can I know what the connection order is?

For example if I connect to IB and CQG with the intention of using CQG for data, how can I tell I didn't inadvertently connect to IB first? Again, in NT7 I can tell by the connection names (leftmost is first).

            Hello bksmm,

You can check the Log tab to see the order of the connections

To receive data from CQG you will need to connect to CQG first

Yes, I could check the log but would have no reason too if I inadvertently connected to the wrong provider first. The point is I look at the control center and would notice the mistake IF the connection names (or some symbol for the provider as others have suggested) were there.

Instead, all we get is a single green indicator for connection. Is SFT-442 still being considered? If so, the inability to tell the connection order without looking at the log should be considered as part of the request.

That is a crying shame. Lots of (even) slow traders like me move into quick-trading mode when we see a strong trend suddenly show up. Invariably we need to know just how we are connected, and we always confirm that we are connected in the manner that we want to be connected.

In NT7, we looked at the Control Center and immediately knew. Asking fast paced trading to wait until the trader has trolled through the log is a strange one. Surely, there are actual traders in your office who will tell you this. Unless of course, your traders never go into quick mode?

Add my vote to see a separate indication for each connection. it could be unique icons, 3-4 letters.
