Historical Data Format NT7 compared to NT8

I understand that Market replay data is formatted differently in NT8.

My question is with regards to historical data formatted for NT7 , can it be copied and pasted into the \db directory on NT8 or does it need to go through a conversion process.

For example, if I purchase Historical data from backtestdata.com in the CL ##-## format can that file be directly copied in the tick folder in NT8?

Is there a white paper yet that details all the structure and format differences in NT8 compared to NT7?

Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately, data from NinjaTrader 7 that was moved to the NinjaTrader 8 folder will not be used by NinjaTrader 8. The data set provided to you by Backtest.com would need to be re-imported in NinjaTrader 8.


A detailed guide to formatting differences between NinjaTrader 7 and 8 is not yet available but this is something which we are compiling.

If other questions come up which I could assist with please let me know.

Are you considering having a standalone converter for this type of situation?. It could get a little messy trying top use the current conversion routine in NT8?

I know of no active development on this however I can see how this would be a useful tool and I will bring that suggestion to the attention of our development team.
