Options Instruments

Any guidance on how to generate options instruments?

I see that options are an instrument type choice on NT8 but so far don't see any instructions on how to create them.

I tried selecting instruments from the menu, then add, put AAPL__150805C00127000 for master instrument, chose option for type, chose default and OPRA for exchanges, and entered AAPL 150508C00127000 for IB in the symbol map field. This created an instrument, but the instrument didn't work when I tried to make a chart with it.

Thank you for your patience.

After some research I have found that option support is not included in the list of NinjaTrader 8 enhancements for Interactive Brokers.

However, there has been some work to add minimal functionality to the core which will cause option trades to appear in NinjaTrader meaning that instrument type is needed in this list.

Curious, I thought options are supported on NT8?
It does appear as an instrument type selection.

Are you saying NT8 is not yet set up for IB's specific options data feed?
Or are you saying that the "minimal functionality" you mentioned will now allow it?
If so, how do I generate the options instrument correctly for IB?

IB does pretty well with options trading so I'm surprised to hear it wasn't included in the NT8 enhancements. It can't be that different from the other feeds.

Hello Mark,

That is correct, options are not supported with Interactive Brokers.

By minimum functionality this means that you are not able to set up options in NinjaTrader, but any option orders made outside of NinjaTrader will appear in NinjaTrader.
