    Instability with multiple data series

I have repeatedly had problems with multiple data series. Today I applied an indicator (ratio) and by mistake entered a false instrument name. This caused NT to crash. After crashing the restart produced the same chart. So NT always crashed on starting, and could no more be used.

    Note
I have noticed that NT 7.0 after a crash always restarts with the crash configuration, not with the last saved workspace as it should.

Renamed NT7 folder, restarted NT7 and restored everything from by last backup two days ago. Restore did not work correctly, actually not a single of my indicators has been restored. Screenshot below, all charts were empty and so was the indicator folder. Analyzing the problem showed that I had a file (PivotsASatellite, which I had created to document another bug) that referenced an assembly.

    Note
After a backup the installed assemblies are not installed. Fair enough. But if there is one file that references the assembly, this causes a restore fail for all indicators. I expect that eventually the referencing indicator file is not restored, but actually NinjaTrader restores none of the custom indicator files.

I will refrain from using NT for multi data series, except for offline analysis. I have had too many problems. However, stability for a single data series (comparable to NinjaTrader 6.5 features) has been excellent so far.

    Hello Harry,

    Thank you for your post.

If you find that NinjaTrader has crashed & you believe the workspace has been corrupted as a result then you can move this workspace file out of the default directory and see if that clears up these issues. Here are the instructions:

To temporarily move the workspace (.xml) files,
    1. Close NinjaTrader
    2. locate the NinjaTrader workspace folder (My Documents / NinjaTrader 7 / workspaces)
    3. then select >
    4. cut >
    5. & paste all of these files to a temporary folder (e.g. on your desktop)

After completion you should be able to start the platform without issue.

The reason why there is an error with respect to the assemblies is due to the fact that NinjaTrader compiles all indicators and strategies - not just one.

In order to find a resolution to the items you cited in this post, it would be best to send your Log & Trace files for the date on which these issues took place. This would allow us to take a more detailed look at what might be taking place in the background.

You can find these in your (My) Documents folder at the file path:
    1. NinjaTrader 7 > Trace > trace.YYYYMMDD.txt
    2. NinjaTrader 7 > Log > log.YYYYMMDD.txt

    (see screenshots for examples)

Just attach these text (.txt) files to your email/response to support AT ninjatrader DOT com (make sure to include a reference to this forum thread)

    Thank you,

Thanks for your reply, I can easily solve my problems. The average user will not cope with this. The two notes just address two weakness to which I wanted to point.
