    WorkSpaces: Instruments and Indicator Prefs

    Hey Guys,

    I have been working with my workspaces lately and i think there is a bug in the logic, whether it's in the code or the design. I can not figure out. The Instruments I work with mostly "ES, GC, YM, CL, NQ". They all have different needs, the Chart Layout is the same for all of them. the time frames are mostly the same, I noticed that WorkSpaces handle both of these aspects, It also takes care of template colors and indicator layout, but (and a very big but) it does not select an Instrument nor Indicator Prefs. I can not find a way to link them anywhere. These are the two most important reason to have different Work Spaces. Can someone please point out if I have overlooked somewhere, or send the oversight to the design team.

    -thanks a bunch

    jupiejupe, saving your workspace should save all open charts, setting, colors, indicators, indicator settings, etc. How are you shutting down NinjaTrader? Do you save all workspaces upon close? Is this a reproducible event? If so, can you please list the exact steps that lead to this data not being saved?

      yes my problem is that it does not change the instrument as well, this is the main reason to have different workspaces. at the bare minimum there should be an option to link a instrument to a workspace.

        Hello,

        This is Brett further assisting for Austin.

        So if I read your post correctly your issue is that a single workspace is not saving different indicator settings for each chart when you change the chart instrument.

        This is Unfortunately expected, as the chart settings will remain no matter what instrument is selected. There is no currently way to set a default for specific instruments in the workspace save. To do this would need to have multiple workspaces and switch between the workspaces is the current intended design when this is needed and build a workspace for each instrument.

        File->Workspaces->New Workspace and Open Workspace.

        Then you can quickly switch between workspaces once they are open.You can toggle the currently displayed workspace by selecting the workspace you wish to display from the Workspaces menu or using the Hot Key SHIFT + F3

        Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

          yes every instrument i follow has it's own workspace, as that there are different "time & tick & range frames" that each one needs, workspaces is the only way to quickly change between them, every can be saved to a workspace expect the instrument in which the time space is created for. each workspace also has different indicator settings. so working in one workspace is not possible.

          again not being a programmer i can understand stand thinking it's a simple fix, but having the option to link an instrument to a workspace seems to make to much sense. as every other aspect is saved to a workspace.
