There is no alert if you run the backtest on insufficient data.

This could happen while you aren’t connected to any data provider and press the “Run backtest” button but there is no data for the whole time frame defined in the Backtest properties window.

However, if you have some data on your machine, some statistics will appear calculated on the insufficient data.

There should be a warning message about NinjaTrader cannot download data while disconnected,

and

NinjaTrader should not run the backtest on insufficient data.

One more addition:

Even if you are connected, if you set a starting date that your brokerage firm doesn’t provide data for, backtesting will run on insufficient data, and there is no warning message about that your results are for not the time frame you set!

Even worse, the start and end dates are not changed regarding the data your brokerage firm actually could provide and downloaded to your PC.

IMO this application behavior is absolutely unacceptable because it is hugely misleading.
